And it came to pass at that time, when Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, that the prophet Ahijah the Shilonite found him in the way; now Ahijah had clad himself with a new garment; and they two were alone in the field. And Ahijah laid hold of the new garment that was on him, and rent it in twelve pieces. And he said to Jeroboam: Take ten pieces; for thus says the Lord, the G-d of Israel; Behold, I will rend the kingdom out of the lands of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to you – but he shall have one tribe. (I Kings, 11:29-32)

Now the Lord said unto Ahijah: ‘Behold, the wife of Jeroboam comes to inquire of you concerning her son; for he is sick; thus and thus shall you say to her: … I will bring evil upon the house of Jeroboam… The Lord will raise Him up a king over Israel, who shall cut off the house of Jeroboam that day. But what is it even then? For the Lord will smite Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water; and He will root up Israel out of this good land, which He gave to their fathers, and will scatter them beyond the River…’ (I Kings, 14:5-15)

In the days of Pekah king of Israel, came Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria, and took Ijon, and Abel-Beth-Maacah, and Janoah, and Kedesh, and Hazor, and Gilead, and Galilee, all the land of Naphtali; and he carried them captive to Assyria. (II Kings, 15:29)

In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah began Hosea the son of Elah to reign in Samaria over Israel and reigned nine years. And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, yet not as the kings of Israel that were before him. Against him came up Shalmaneser king of Assyria… Then the king of Assyria came up throughout all the land, and went up to Samaria, and besieged it three years. In the ninth year of Hosea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away to Assyria, and placed them in Halah and in Habor on the river Gozan, and in the cities of Medes. (II Kings, 17:1-6)

And it came to pass in the fourth year of King Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hosea son of Elah king of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria and besieged it. And at the end of three years they took it; even in the sixth year of Hezekiah, which was the ninth year of Hosea king of Israel, Samaria was taken. And the king of Assyria carried Israel away to Assyria, and put them in Halah and in Habor on the river of Gozan, and in the cities of Medes; because they hearkened not to the voice of the Lord their G-d, but transgressed His covenant. And the children of the half-tribe of Manasseh dwelt in the land… And they broke faith with the G-d of their fathers and went astray after the gods of the peoples of the land, whom G-d destroyed before them. And the G-d of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria, and the spirit of Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria, and he carried them away, even the Reubenites, and the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh, and brought them to Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and to the river Gozan, unto this day. (I Chronicles, 5:23-26)

And it shall come to pass on that day, that the Lord will set His hand again the second time to recover the remnant of His people, that shall remain from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. And He shall set up an ensign for the nations, and will assemble the dispersed of Israel, and gather together the scattered of Judah from the four corners of the earth. The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and they that harass Judah shall be cut off; Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim. But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west; together shall they spoil the children of the east; they shall lay their hands upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them. And the Lord will utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with His scorching wind will He shake His hand over the River, and will smite it into seven streams, and cause men to march over dry-shod. And there shall be a highway for the remnant of His people, that shall remain from Assyria, like as there was for Israel in the day that it came up out of the land of Egypt.           (Isaiah 11:11-16)

And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord will beat off (His fruit) from the flood of the River unto the Brook of Egypt, and you shall be gathered one by one, O children of Israel. And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great horn shall be blown; and they shall come that were lost in the land of Assyria, and they that were dispersed in the land of Egypt; And they shall worship the Lord at the holy mountain in Jerusalem. (Isaiah 27: 12-13)

===========================================================================

And he said: It is too light a thing that you should be My servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the offspring of Israel; I will also give you for a light of the nations, that My salvation may be unto the end of the earth… Thus says the Lord: In an acceptable time have I answered you, and in a day of salvation have I helped you; and I will preserve you, and give you for a covenant of the people, to raise up the land, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages; Saying to the prisoners: “Go Forth; to them that are in darkness: “Show yourselves”; … Behold, these shall come from far; And, lo, these from the north and from the west, and these from the land of Sinim. (Isaiah 49)

===========================================================================

Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your seed from the east, and gather you from the west. I will say to the north: “Give up”, and to the south: “Keep not back, bring My sons from far, and My daughters from the end of the earth.” (Isaiah 43)

For, lo, the days come, says the Lord, that I will turn the captivity of My people Israel and Judah, says the Lord; And I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it… Therefore fear not, O Jacob my servant, says the Lord; neither be dismayed, O Israel; for, lo, I will save you from afar, and your seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall again be quiet and at ease, and none shall make him afraid. (Jeremiah 30)

Thus says the Lord: A voice is heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping, Rachel weeping for her children; She refuses to be comforted for her children, because they are not. Thus says the Lord: Refrain your voice from weeping, and your eyes from tears. For your work shall be rewarded, says the Lord; and they shall come back from the land of the enemy. And there is hope for your future, says the Lord, and your children shall return to their own land… Set yourself up waymarks; make guideposts; set your heart toward the highway, even the way which you went. Return O virgin of Israel; Return to these your cities.       (Jeremiah 31)

Son of man, as for your brethren, even your brethren, the men of your kindred, and all the house of Israel, all of them, concerning whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said: Get you far from the Lord! Unto us is this land given for a possession; Therefore say: Thus says the Lord G-d: Although I have removed them far off among the nations, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet have I been to them as a little sanctuary in the countries where they are come. Therefore say: Thus says the Lord G-d: I will even gather you from the peoples and assemble you out of the countries where you have scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel. And they shall come thither, and they shall take away all the detestable things thereof and all the abominations thereof. (Ezekiel 11)

Say to them: Thus says the Lord G-d: Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the nations whither they are gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land. And I will make them one nation in the land, upon the mountains of Israel. … And my servant David shall be king over them, and they shall all have one shepherd. They shall also walk in My ordinances, and observe My statutes and do them. (Ezekiel 37)

=================================================================================

Thus says the Lord G-d: This shall be the border, whereby you shall divide the land for inheritance according to the twelve tribes of Israel, Joseph receiving two portions. And you shall inherit it, one as well as another, concerning which I lifted up My hand to give it to your fathers. And this land shall fall unto you for inheritance… So shall you divide this land unto you according to the tribes of Israel. (Ezekiel 47)

Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and to them that are secure in the mountains of Samaria. …That drink wine in bowls and anoint themselves with the chief ointments; But they are not grieved for the hurt of Joseph. Therefore now shall they go captive at the head of them that go captive. (Amos 6)

=================================================================================

And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them and devour them; And there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau for the Lord has spoken. (Obadiah)

In that day, says the Lord, will I assemble her that is lame, and I will gather her that is driven away, and her that I have afflicted. And I will make her that was lame a remnant, and her that was cast off a mighty nation; and the Lord shall reign over them in mount Zion… (Micah 4)

==================================================================================

For then will I turn to the people a pure language that they may all call capon the name of the Lord, to serve Him with one consent. From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia shall they bring my supplicants, even the daughter of my dispersed, as my offering … I will deal with all them that afflict you; and I will save her that is lame and gather her that was driven away. And I will make them to be a praise and a name, whose shame has been in all the earth. (Zephaniah 3)

==================================================================================

Thus says the Lord of Hosts: Behold, I will save my people from the east country, and from the west country; and I will bring them, and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. And they shall be My people, and I will be their G-d in truth and in righteousness. (Zechariah 8)

==================================================================================

And I will strengthen the house of Judah, and I will save the house of Joseph and I will bring them back, for I have compassion upon them, and they shall be as though I had not cast them off; For I am the Lord their G-d, and I will hear them. And they of Ephraim shall be like a mighty man, and their heart shall rejoice as through wine; their children shall see it and rejoice, their heart shall be glad in the Lord. I will hiss for them, and gather them, for I have redeemed them; for they shall increase as they have increased. And I will sow them among the people and they shall remember me in far countries; and they shall live with their children, and shall return. I will bring them back also out of the land of Egypt and gather them out of Assyria; And I will bring them into the land of Gilead and Lebanon, and place shall not suffice them. (Zechariah 10)

G-d spoke in His holiness that I would exult, that I would divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth. Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine, Ephraim also is the strength of my head, Judah is my scepter. (Psalms 60)

Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign… Now in the eighteenth year of his reign… He sent… to repair the house of the Lord his G-d. And they came to Hilkiah the high priest and delivered the money that was brought into the house of G-d, which the Levites, the keepers of the door, had gathered of the hand of Manasseh and Ephraim, and of all the remnant of Israel, and of all Judah and Benjamin, and they returned to Jerusalem. And they delivered it into the hand of the workmen that had the oversight of the house of the Lord. (Chronicles II, 34)

=====================================================================================

And Josiah kept a Passover unto the Lord in Jerusalem… And there was no Passover like that kept in Israel from the days of Samuel the Prophet; Neither did any of the kings of Israel keep such a Passover as Josiah kept, and the priests, and the Levites, and all Judah and Israel that were present, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem. (Chronicles II, 35)
